Fantasies Lifestyle Club sits along Branch Highway in the rural Mowata and Branch communities of Acadia Parish, a stretch of farmland southwest of Crowley where a swingers venue is about the last thing neighbors expected to see rise from the cane fields. Co-owned by Crowley residents Jasen Bourque and Jessica Boullion, the club is pitched as an upscale, invite-only social space for couples, polyamorous groups, single women, and select single men aged 21 and up, with private and open play areas, a dance floor, and showers stocked with towels and toiletries. Its own house style leans dressy rather than club-casual: patrons are asked to arrive "dressed to impress," with no basketball shorts or work clothes, and to stay fully covered on the way in and out. The club's arrival triggered one of the most contentious local government fights Acadia Parish has seen in years. Construction was vandalized in October, with plumbing torn out at a cost owners put in the tens of thousands of dollars, and packed police jury meetings followed as Branch and Mowata residents voiced fears about the effect on their quiet farming community. The parish police jury responded in January 2025 with a 7-0 ordinance vote (one member absent) that licenses and heavily restricts "sexually oriented businesses," banning alcohol, public nudity, and sexual intercourse on premises, requiring lights-on monitoring of guests, and keeping semi-nude staff at least six feet from patrons. The club's attorney, Douglas Brown, has said the ordinance is designed to run Fantasies out of the parish and that a lawsuit will follow once it is enforced.
